FAITH ó The annual Miss Rowan County Veteran Pageant will be held during the Faith Fourth of July festivities.
Nine contestants will ride in the parade at 10 a.m. The crowning will take place at the bandstand behind town hall directly after the parade.
Here are the contestants and the posts they represent:
– Tiffany Anderson, 17, is the daughter of Jackie Bostic. She represents Vailes-Newland-Walker VFW Post 9131.
Tiffany attends West Rowan High School, where she runs track and plays volleyball; is a member of the National Honor Society and National Honor Roll; and is a Junior Marshall. She has planned numerous service projects including a canned-food drive.
She’s a member of Yadkin Grove Baptist Church, where she performs praise dance. She holds a management position at MCDonald’s and models for a Charlotte agency.
She plans to attend college after graduation.
– Natalie Grace Bost, 18, is the daughter of Lane and Traci Bost. She represents Faith American Legion Post 327.
Natalie is a 2007 graduate of East Rowan High School, where she ran cross country and was involved in honors chorus, East Rowan’s annual Broadway Revue Show, and the Health Occupations Students of America club.
She plans to study nursing at East Carolina University this fall and hopes to work as a neonatal nurse in the future.
Natalie is a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
– Lauren Cress, 17, is the daughter of Kim and Teresa Cress. She represents Livengood-Peeler-Wood Post 448.
Lauren will be a senior at East Rowan High School, where she plays varsity volleyball and basketball. She is a scholar athlete and received all-county honors in volleyball. Lauren is president of the Junior Civitans Club, president of the National Honor Society and is involved in student council.
She enjoys playing piano and volunteering with special olympics and Rowan Helping Ministries.
Lauren is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and major in biology or biomedical research. She wants to attend medical school and become a surgeon.
– Cindy Marie Dickenson, 17, is the daughter of John and Debbie Dickenson. She represents Kennedy-Hall American Legion Post 106.
Cindy attends West Rowan High School, where she plays softball, basketball and golf. She’s also a member of the Future Farmers of America Club and Key Club.
She is a member of South River Methodist Church .
Cindy plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and major in mechanical engineering.
– Amy Hinshaw, 17, is the daughter of Anna and Ed Hinshaw, She represents Amvets Post 565.
Amy is a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
She attends South Rowan High School where she swims and plays volleyball. She’s also a member of the Future Farmers of America Club, the National Honor Society and the Health Occupations Students of America Club.
After graduation, Amy plans to attend college.
– Mallory D. Honeycutt, 18, is the daughter of Stan and Rita Honeycutt. She represents Harold B. Jarrett Post 342.
Mallory attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studies nursing. She’s a North Carolina Nurse Scholar, plays intramural sports and sings at UNC Greensboro.
Mallory is a 2006 graduate of East Rowan High School where she was student body president and homecoming queen and participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country and honors chorus.
She’s a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Mallory hopes to become at nurse anesthetist.
– Crystal Miranda Kluttz, 17, is the daughter of Eddie and Lori Kluttz. She represents Hudson-Miller-Tatum VFW Post 3006.
A senior at South Rowan High School, she is a member of the cheerleading squad and track-and-field team and a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club.
She enjoys dancing at Center Stage Dance Company and volunteering with Rowan County Special Olympics and the National Guard Family readiness Group. Crystal also tutors younger children at China Grove Elementary School.
She plans to attend college and study nursing.
– Torie Lucas, 16, is the daughter of Kim and Grady Lucas. She represents Freeze-Seymour American Legion Post 185.
Torie attends South Rowan High School, where she’s involved in the Spanish Club, the track and basketball teams, Young Republicans and the Bible Club. She’s a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Torie is in the Sheriff’s Office Explorers Club and hopes to attend Annapolis Naval Academy and become a Judge Advocate General for the Navy.
– Christen Aubrey Turner, 16, is the daughter of Crystal Bailey and Cedric Turner. She represents J.C. Price Post 107.
Christen is a senior at Salisbury High School, where she’s a varsity cheerleader, member of the Health Occupations Students of America Club and step team and manager of the men’s track team.
She’s a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she serves as an Acolyte, Junior Usher and youth member of the Presbyterian Black Caucus and sings in the youth choir.
She has volunteered with Rowan Helping Ministries and Meals on Wheels.
Christen plans to attend a historically black college or university and study medicine.
