Man arrested after trying to burn a pickup truck

A Salisbury man has been charged with trying to burn a neighbor’s pickup truck.
Rowan Sheriff’s deputies also served several other warrants on Edward Lee Coughenour, 41, of 1013 Lands End Drive.
Capt. John Sifford said deputies responded to a disturbance call around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Sifford said Coughenour poured a petroleum based substance on the 1972 Ford F100 pick-up truck owned by Bradley Morrow of 1016 Lands End Drive. He then tried to light it with a book of matches.
Deputies charged Coughenour with two counts of burning of personal property.
He was also served with outstanding warrants for communicating threats and charges from the China Grove Police Department including failure to yield for law enforcement, fire or rescue; fleeing to elude, and driving while license revoked.
Coughenour is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
