CONCORD ó Local governments and agencies will host a free workshop on home ownership Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Suite 15 at The Village, 280 Concord Pkwy. S.
Speakers from key government agencies will present information for homeowners and displaced workers on the Home Protection and Making Home Affordable programs. They include Rich Lee from the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, Tami Hinton, the state commissioner of banks, and Cynthia DuRant, from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“There is a lot of information and resources available to individuals looking to purchase a home and keep current on a mortgage they already have,” said Sherry Jones, Kannapolis’ development program administrator. “We want people to be able to take advantage of these opportunities and fully educate themselves on the process of purchasing and owning a home.”
Those planning to purchase a home will have the opportunity to learn about working with lenders and real estate agents and programs that assist with buying a home. Legal aid and HUD-approved housing counselors will be available to discuss refinancing and other mortgage modification options.
Information will also be available to educate participants on how to continue to make affordable mortgage payments and keep from falling behind.
