China Grove leader, veterans’ advocate Don Webb dies

CHINA GROVE ó Don Webb, a longtime alderman and well known activist for veterans, died Monday.
Webb died in the hospital following an apparent stroke at his home on South Main Street Monday morning.
Webb, 71, filed for a four-year term on the town board last month. He had served 22 years.
A member of VFW Post 3006 in Salisbury, Webb was president of the Rowan Veterans Council and was active in efforts to keep the emergency room and outpatients services at the Hefner VA Medical Center after the Veterans Administration announced it would contract with private hospitals for those services.
