A 44-year-old man was taken to the hospital Friday night after being stabbed in the neck by another man, authorities said.
The victim was stabbed in the trachea and sustained “major neck trauma” an emergency medical responder in radio transmissions with other medical personnel.
The stabbing occurred on Fish House Road, off N.C. 152 about a mile from Old Concord Road.
According to emergency radio transmissions, another man stabbed the victim in the throat after saying the victim “hit his girlfriend.”
The man was still on the scene when authorities arrived and began walking on Fish House Road. Authorities detained a man and a woman.
Medical responders called for a helicopter to transport the victim and planned to have it land at China Grove Middle School. Upon hearing the helicopter would not arrive for 30 minutes, however, the medical responders opted to take the victim to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord and have the helicopter fly there to pick him up.
The man’s identity and condition were unavailable late Friday. Investigators had not returned a phone call seeking more information by press time.
