YourSports briefs: Childress wins tournament

Salisbury’s Michael Childress, 10, won the Concord Level 4 USTA AMP junior tennis tournament for the boys 10s.
Seeded second, he beat a player ranked 36th in the state and first in the tournament by a 6-2, 6-0 score in the final.
Childress and his doubles partner lost in the boys 12s championship match.
n Local baseball
The 10-under Rowan Razorbacks placed second in the Back to School Classic Nations baseball tournament held in Thomasville. They won two games, lost one and tied one.
The Razorbacks won 4-1 against the Eden Eagles. Tyler Beck pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12.
The Razorbacks had a 3-3 tie with the Carolina Combat. Owen White and Olen Stamper pitched well.
The Razorbacks won 11-9 against the Carolina Cougars despite trailing 9-0 after two innings. Pitcher Cole Hales retired 14 straight batters.
In the championship game, the Combat won 5-1 against the Razorbacks, who were in their tournament in the 10-under division.
Team members are: Alex Antosek, Tyler Belk, Cade Bernhardt, Daniel Durham, Cole Hales, Powers Muller, Alex Nash, Sean Perry, Bo Rusher, Olen Stamper, Payne Stohlsworth, Owen White and Bryant Young. Coaches are: Rob Hales, Bobby Rusher, Justin Nash and Scott Young.
n Sluggers are champs
The Cabarrus-based Carolina Sluggers kept on rolling as it won the Stanly County Invitational 12-under baseball tournament during a recent tournament.
The Sluggers went 4-0 and outscored their opponents 53-8.
