NC Gov-elect Perdue makes Charlotte appearance

CHARLOTTE (AP) ó Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue says sheíll work to improve Charlotteís roads and reduce the cityís perceived slights from state government.
Perdue made her first public appearance since election night at the Charlotte Chamberís annual meeting Thursday. Perdue defeated Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory on Tuesday.
The Charlotte Observer reported Perdue also wants to push for a strong presence in the city by Wells Fargo. The bank is buying Charlotte-based Wachovia Corp.
The outgoing Democratic lieutenant governor has promised to set up a satellite office in North Carolinaís largest city after her swearing-in in January. She plans to work there a few days a month.
She said the economy is her top concern and wants an economic recovery package for the state.
