*Game notes: East has beaten Statesville only once in school history, and that took an amazing comeback in the 1991 state playoffs.East is unlikely to double its win total against the Greyhounds tonight. Statesville has more offense, more defense and more speed.
It’s been a down season for the Mustangs after last year’s great ride in coach Brian Hinson’s first year at the helm. East hasn’t tasted victory since it beat winless North Rowan on Sept. 5, and it failed to win a home game this year.
East hasn’t scored more than seven points in a game since Sept. 19, when Ben DeCelle scored three TDs in a 33-21 loss against Carson.
DeCelle has had an outstanding senior year with 306 rushing yards, 561 receiving yards and a kickoff return for a TD.
Trevor Monroe has passed for 207 yards during the last two games, but he’s still looking for his first TD toss.
Mustangs such as Josiah Hurst and Caleb Allen will give it their all in tonight’s season finale.
