OAKLAND, Calif. ó The Golden State Warriors acquired free agent Corey Maggette on Thursday, signing away the Los Angeles Clippers’ scoring leader.
Maggette would be signed for 5 years at around $50 million. The 6-foot-6 former Duke star appeared in 70 games last season with the Clippers and averaged 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.
HICKSON SIGNS
CLEVELAND ó The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed first-round draft pick J.J. Hickson.
Terms of the deal, which was announced Thursday, were not disclosed. Cleveland selected the 19-year-old Hickson with the 19th pick in the NBA draft.
The 6-foot-9 forward played just one season at North Carolina State before turning pro.
He led all ACC freshmen in scoring and rebounding.
MILLER SUSPENDED
NEW YORK ó Brad Miller of the Sacramento Kings was suspended for five games by the NBA on Thursday because the center violated the league drug program.
Miller, whose ban is set to begin with the first game of the 2008-09 season, averaged 13.4 points and 9.5 rebounds in 72 games last season.
MASON SIGNS
SAN ANTONIO ó The San Antonio Spurs and unrestricted free agent Roger Mason have agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth more than $7 million.
