The Associated Press Wearing a uniform doesn’t mean you have to look like everyone else. Here’s how some students personalize their Roman Catholic high school uniforms, while still meeting the dress code.
ó Make sure it fits properly. Nothing looks good when it’s too tight or too loose.
ó Find cute pins or stickers for lanyards or school ID tags.
ó There’s no limit on the ways to style your hair: hair up, hair down, in a ponytail, in braids, in a bun, etc. Try patterned headbands, barrettes or bows.
ó Be known as “the girl with the nail polish.”
ó Ditch the bland backpack. Try a preppy tote bag or a trendy messenger bag.
ó Bling! Jewelry is a little, shiny way to express yourself.
ó Dress up a uniform shoe with colored or patterned shoe laces, or switch the laces with ribbons.
ó If there’s no uniform shoe, have fun, but remember ó the cafeteria is not a catwalk. Aim for comfort with ballet flats, Ugg boots or Converse and Keds slip-ons.
