John Paul Moss Jr.

John Paul Moss Jr., 56, 419 N. East Ave., died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2007) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after a six-month illness.

Born Sept. 24, 1950, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Moss was a son of Lelia Christy Moss Wheeler, Kannapolis, and the late John Paul Moss.

A 1968 graduate of A.L. Brown High School, he worked in early years in Fleet Maintenance for the Kannapolis Sanitary District. Later he worked at Grinnell Fire Protection System and then Fieldcrest Cannon, in the Plant 1 Dye Department.

He earned a computer science degree from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004.

Daughter Jessica Nichole Moss preceded him in death.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include stepfather David F. Wheeler; brother Dennis Lynn Moss, Kannapolis; stepsister Jodie Mooney, Colorado; stepbrother Timothy Wheeler, Florida; and friend Linda Burchfield.

A service was held Tuesday (Jan. 16, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Leon Smith and the Rev. Kenneth Gibson. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
