Staff report
Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team edged Erskine 83-80 for a CVAC victory on Thursday at Merner Gym.
DeMario Grier led the way with 20 points. All 11 Falcons scored, and Pfeiffer forced 21 turnovers.
A field goal by Grier gave Pfeiffer a 75-74 lead with 4:17 remaining, and Erskine (2-8, 2-5) trailed the rest of the way.
Pfeiffer held on when an Erskine 3-point attempt missed at the buzzer.
Tavares Cooper (16 points), Robert McGriff (15) and Logan Call (10) also scored in double figures for the Falcons.
T.J. Taylor scored 35 points for the Flying Fleet.
“Cooper was the difference late in the game,” Pfeiffer coach Dave Davis said. “He loaded us up and led us to victory. We played one of our best defensive games. Our rebounding is improving, and we got several huge ones tonight.”
