George H. Freeze

CHINA GROVE – George Henry Freeze, 98, of 785 Millbridge Road, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Hospice House of Cabarrus County.

Born Sept. 16, 1908, in Rowan County, Mr. Freeze was the son of the late Charlie Amos Freeze and Nellie Bostian Freeze. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had been employed as a loom fixer for Locke Mill. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in China Grove.

Preceding him in death were brothers Edward “Cap” Freeze, Ralph “Scoop” Freeze and Fred S. Freeze.

Survivors include wife Nina Morris Freeze of the home, whom he married May 23, 1946; daughters Barbara Freeze Helms of China Grove, Linda Freeze Hooks and husband Joe of China Grove and Sharon Freeze Wilshire and husband Philip of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1-1:45 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. The family meeting place will be at the home of his daughter, Linda Hooks, 795 Millbridge Road, China Grove.

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Millie Orbison officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
