James Scott “Pete” McKinney, 79, Kannapolis, died Jan. 2, 2007, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.

Born July 18, 1927, in Madison County, Ga., Mr. McKinney was a son of the late B.C. and Mozelle McKinney.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was a longtime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8989. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon in 1989.

Survivors include wife Betty McKinney and brother Ray McKinney, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

A graveside service was held Thursday (Jan. 4, 2007) at Carolina Memorial Park.

Whitley’s Funeral Home was in charge.
