Mamie Brown Moss

ANDERSON, S.C. – Mamie Elizabeth Elliott Brown Moss, 84, died Tuesday Dec. 26, 2006 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 11, 1922 in Rowan County to the late William Raymond Elliott and Willie Louise Lipe Elliott. She was employed by Dow-BASF, Anderson, S.C. for many years until her retirement in 1982. She was a charter member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church, Anderson, S.C. where she had been a member of the choir. She had lived in the Anderson, S.C. area since 1947. She enjoyed being a musician having played the violin, guitar, mandolin and keyboard. She and her late husband, Jimmie Guy, sang together with a music group in earlier years.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Guy Brown who died in 1980 and her second husband, Julian Moss who died in 1995.

She is survived by brothers, Carl William Elliott and wife Myrtle, Hubert Lee Elliott and wife Hazel, Troy Ray Elliott and wife Lois and Billy Wayne Elliott and wife Lyndia, all of China Grove; special cousin, George Samuel Elliot of Linwood, N.C.; special friend, Ralph Vickery of Anderson, S.C.; uncle, Joe Anderson Elliott of Salisbury and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Varennes Heights Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Kirt Mitchell. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Anderson, S.C. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
