Walter M. Garrison

VALLEJO, CALIF. – Walter M. Garrison, 65, died Tuesday Dec. 19, 2006 at John Muir Medical Center after a long illness.

Mr. Garrison was born April 13, 1941 in Gaffney, S.C. to the late Willie Sr. and Annie Bell Garrison. He had worked for C & H Sugar, Mare Island Naval Shipyard and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers-Sausalito. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his hobbies included gardening, fishing, bike riding and cooking. He loved Jazz music, enjoyed the great outdoors and was a sportsfan who had a lifelong love of basketball.

Mr. Garrison is survived by his wife Diane, who he had been married to for 41 years; daughters, Causandra Bernardi and husband Nick and Amanda Garrison, all of Vallejo, Calif.; sisters Faye Garrison, Doris Gaston, Helen Timmons, all of East Spencer, N.C.; brothers, Lawson Garrison and Willie Garrison, Jr. of East Spencer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo, Calif. A memorial service will also take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Spencer, N.C. with Rev. Alonza Williams, officiating.

Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo, Calif.
