Johnny Edmond Tilley, 76, 150 Country Ridge Road, died Nov. 29, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Aug. 13, 1930, in Rowan County, Mr. Tilley was a son of the late Dewey Willard and Clara Maggie Lynch Tilley.

He worked more than 50 years in the Bleachery Department of Cannon Mills Plant 1 and had raced stock cars on area dirt tracks.

Son Timmy Tilley preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife Thelma Kerley Tilley; sons Terry Tilley, Rockwell, and Garland Tilley, Concord; daughters Sissie T. Hardison, Salisbury, and Lisa T. Howard, Rockwell; brother Dewey Tilley Jr., Manassas, Va.; sister Carnedith Grooms, Hillsboro; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A service was held Saturday (Dec. 2, 2006) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. D. Duane Holt. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
