Underground container hides more than 500 pounds of pot
SALISBURY — Working on a construction project Tuesday, a?Russell Farm Road man discovered a metal box containing more than 500 pounds of marijuana.
Authorities believe the pot was left by former resident and accused drug trafficker Ismael Garcia-Gonzalez.
Investigators raided Garcia-Gonzalez’ residence in September and seized 40 pounds of marijuana during the search. Garcia-Gonzalez was charged with trafficking.
Now the underground secret could mean more charges.
After unearthing the box, deputies said, the property owner pried open the container and discovered the packaged marijuana. He then contacted authorities.
Authorities said the wholesale value of the marijuana is $531,000.
