Performance Produce names vice president of sale

Albert Ramirez has been named vice president of sales at Performance Produce Family of Farms, a grower/shipper produce company with locations in North Carolina and Florida.

Ramirez is in charge of sales and new business development, according to an announcement by J.R. Roach, company president.

Performance Produce, LLC, headquartered in Salisbury, offers repacking, inspections and warehouse space, as well as distribution and partnerships with farmers.

Roach said that Ramirez, in his newly created position, will lead the company into new markets.

Ramirez has 30 years of experience in the grocery and produce distribution business, having worked at JR Grocery in Chicago, an independent grocer owner; Fleming International, Super Valu International, Brooks Tropicals and Ramz Corp.

“My customers come first,” he said. “They trust my integrity, my loyalty, hard work and determination — from the farmers to my employers and partners all the way to the consumer,” Ramirez said. “I’m looking forward to a long-term opportunity with my new friends and family at Performance Produce.”

Ramirez grew up in New York. He and his wife Isis of 33 years now reside in South Florida. They have a daughter, son-in-law, son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.

Optometry practice opens in Salisbury

Dr. Melanie Denton is pleased to announce the opening of her oOptometry practice, Salisbury Eyecare and Eyewear, located at 205 E. Council St. Suite B in downtown Salisbury. Dr. Denton provides comprehensive eye care including pediatric exams, treatment of ocular disease and emergency eye care. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received her doctorate of optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry. She completed internships at the Duke University Eye Center and the Detroit VA. She completed her residency at University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, concentrating in Ocular Disease. In 2015, she completed a Masters in Business Administration at Western Carolina University. She and her fiancé live in Salisbury. Salisbury Eyecare and Eyewear is now accepting new patients.
