From staff and wire reports
Tallahassee Post 13 won Florida’s American Legion baseball state championship on Sunday to complete the field for the Southeast Regional Tournament that begins on Wednesday at Asheboro’s McCrary Park.
Post 13 won its first state title since 1971.
Post 13 came in third out of 76 teams at the Perfect Game East Florida finals in May and won the Border Wars American Legion tournament in Jacksonville in June.
North Carolina champ Rowan County (30-6) will take on West Virginia champion Wheeling Post 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the first round. Rowan’s game is part of a two-game evening session. Host Randolph County (25-15) plays Columbia, Tenn., following Rowan’s game.
If Rowan wins in the first round, it will play the 4:30 p.m. game again on Thursday.
If Rowan loses in the first round, it will play in the 9:30 a.m. elimination game on Thursday against the South Carolina-Florida loser.
South Carolina champ Chapin/Newberry is unbeaten.
Florida won the regional last season. Randolph County has finished runner-up the last two seasons while hosting the event.
Pairings are in Scoreboard.

Champions golf
BLAINE, Minn. — Kenny Perry successfully defended his 3M Championship title, shooting a 4-under 68 for a four-stroke victory over Bernhard Langer, Scott Dunlap and Kevin Sutherland.
After shooting a 61 on Saturday to take a four-stroke lead, the 54-year-ol Perry had six birdies and two bogeys in the final round to finish at 18-under 198. He became the first player to successfully defend a title in the tournament’s 23-year history, winning for the eighth time on the Champions Tour.
Last year, Perry made a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole to beat Langer by a stroke.
Langer closed with a 67, and Dunlap and Sutherland each shot 68.

Braves win
PHILADELPHIA — Jace Peterson had three hits, including a three-run home run, and Julio Teheran pitched seven strong innings as Atlanta beat the Phillies 6-2 and snapped a season-worst six-game losing streak.
Chris Johnson, Jonny Gomes and Ryan Lavarnway all had an RBI for the Braves, who won for just the second time in their last 15 road games to avoid a four-game series sweep.
Ryan Howard had two hits for the Phillies.
