House of Prayer
Bishop C.M. Bailey, national leader of the United House of Prayer for All People, will be the guest of the local church at 501 Old Concord Road 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 12. Many out-of-town bands, choirs and ministers will be present.This will be Bailey’s first visit to Salisbury as bishop. The Salisbury church is part of the Greensboro church state.
Concord Gospel-Fest
CONCORD ó Marable Memorial AME Zion Church will have a Gospel-Fest Saturday, 6 p.m., at Barber-Scotia College in the chapel, 145 Cabarrus Ave. West, Concord.
The event will feature several gospel groups and both local and out-of-town choirs. Among the guest soloists is the Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr. of Salisbury.
Admission is $5, or $6 with a raffle ticket.

Remnant in Christ
Remnant in Christ Outreach Worship Center (RICO) is having a grand opening of its Information Center from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.
The center has a variety of Christian-based reading material and will soon have other media materials such as CDs and DVDs available to check out. The center gladly accepts donated materials.
Hotdogs and beverages will be available along with door prizes. The public is invited.
RICO is located at 627 Newsome Road. The Pastor is Prophetess Miriam Parker Keller.

Carolina Cross Connection, a Christian ministry seeking to reach out to those in need, is back for another summer, bringing together youth and adults from churches around North Carolina to provide minor home repair, painting, basic construction such as wheelchair ramps, yard work and cleaning. Genesis Baptist
CHINA GROVE ó Genesis Baptist Church will host a revival beginning Sunday. Evangelist Steve Gunter will speak at the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. worship services Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
Gunter started the Steve Gunter Ministries in 2001 and preaches 50 meetings each year.
The Genesis Choir and special singers will provide music. A nursery will be available.
Genesis is located at 9710 Old Concord-Salisbury Road, China Grove.
Organ Lutheran
The summer schedule for Organ Lutheran Church begins June 7 and ends Aug. 31. Members and visitors may attend either the 8:30 a.m. early service in the Old Church or the regular 10:30 a.m. service in Organ Church. Fellowship in the picnic shelter precedes the regular Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.
There will be no early service on Aug. 9, homecoming.
Sills Creek
The Voices of Joy (formerly Noble Spiritual Singers) will celebrate their 54th anniversary today at the Sills Creek AME Zion Church. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.
Singers from both North and South Carolina will be on the program. Emcee will be Roland Carter of Lexington. Food will be available.
One-day VBS
John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 1620 Brenner Ave. will be holding a one-day, environmentally-themed vacation Bible school Sunday.
This multigenerational event will begin with gathering in the fellowship hall at 9:45 a.m. There will be stations for banner-making, Communion bread baking, music instrument making and a prayer wall.
A worship service will follow at 11 a.m., also in the fellowship hall, followed immediately by First Sunday Sandwich Lunch.
Afterwards, the group will gather at Sloan Park for seed planting, recreation, music and refreshments.
Woodleaf UMC
WOODLEAF ó Woodleaf United Methodist Church will celebrate homecoming June 7. The service will start at 10 a.m. with a performance by the Pine Ridge Boys.
The Rev. Ron Hartman will deliver the message at 10:45 a.m. A memorial service will recognize loved ones who have passed away. After, there will be a meal and fellowship downstairs and on the lawn. The public is welcome.
First Baptist VBS
Salisbury’s First Baptist Church invites young people tovacation Bible school: “Boomerang Express’! Travel to the Land Down Under.”
Children ages 4 (by Aug. 31) through grade 6 are admitted free from 8:45 a.m. to noon, June 22-26. They will hear Bible stories, participate in crafts and music, eat snacks at the G’Day Café, and play games at Recreation Rock.
A kick-off and pre-registration event is scheduled Sunday, June 14, 4-6 p.m. at the First Ministry Center across from the sanctuary. There will be free refreshments, inflatables, and crafts. Call First Baptist Church, 704-633-0431 or visit www.fbcsalisbury.org.
Lyerly Evangelical
ROCKWELL ó Wendy Robbins Roseman of China Grove will sing at Lyerly Evangelical Church, 1320 Crescent Road, this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Her CD “Highest Praise” was released in 2003. She attends Salisbury Christian Fellowship.
SRHS baccalaureate
LANDIS ó The South Rowan High School baccalaureate service will be held Sunday, 3 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Landis, 210 N. Central Avenue. Speakers for the service include members of the Class of 2009 and the Rev. David P. Franks. Music will be provided by the South Rowan High School Varsity Singers.
Seniors are asked to gather in the fellowship hall at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow. Parents and members of the community are also invited to attend.
