Local pilots support veterans at Hefner VA

EAA Chapter 1083 and the pilots and aircraft owners based at Salisbury/Rowan County airport have “adopted” the men of the North Carolina Veterans Home located on the Hefner VA Hospital grounds. We all would like to make sure these aging veterans are not forgotten during the Holiday season. According to LB Kolkebeck, activity assistant, “there are between 92 and 99 veterans housed in the facility at any time.” Things that are needed are CDs such as jazz, big band swing, older country and bluegrass. Also toiletries, electric razors, and large print crosswords and word search books are always needed.
If anyone would like to help these aging forgotten heroes, please feel free to drop off any donations at the main terminal build at the Rowan County Airport before Monday. Help make this Christmas an unforgettable holiday for all these veterans.
