The Granite Quarry High School Class of 1948 held its 63rd reunion on Nov. 5 at Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith.
Social hour gave classmates and guests time to reminisce about good times in school, talk about family and accomplishments in life. The red rose and red and white class colors were used to decorate the dining tables.
ěBuddyî Foster welcomed the 17 classmates and 14 guests who attended. Faye Cauble Kesler had devotions and prayer. Doris Peacock Cline gave a memorial in remembrance of deceased classmates. Foster conducted a brief business meeting, was voted to hold the reunion the at the same place, Shiloh Reformed Church on Nov. 3, 2012.
Prizes were given to Billy Frank Brady and wife Mary for having the most grandchildren, to Glenn Webb and wife Martha for traveling the most distance and to guest Bill Cline for being the oldest.
Planning committee members Doris Cline, Rose Holshouser and Buddy Foster were appointed to serve again in 2012. A buffet lunch was enjoyed by all.

From out of town came John ěBuddyî Foster with wife Trevor and their grandson James Foster, Sherrills Ford; and Glenn Webb and wife Martha from Stoneville.

District 3 awards
The first District 3 Group 2 Awards Banquet for older missionaries was held at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury. The theme for the program was ěPreaching, Teaching, Reaching ó A Call to Spiritual Integrity by the Anointing of the Holy Spirit with Emphasis on Love.î
Money raised went to the J.J. Johnson Bible School Camp.
Twenty-eight missionaries over the region were honored as well as three district officers: Eva Johnson, Clara Barger and Edna Allan.
Cleveland parade
CLEVELAND ó The Cleveland Lions Club sponsored the 40th annual Cleveland Christmas parade on Dec. 3, an annual event since 1972 that has always showcased local folks and activities.
The parade started at the old YMCA building with the West Rowan JROTC leading the way followed by one special entry, a portion of a beam from the world trade center. Fire trucks and ambulances followed, and then antique cars and trucks, Cub Scouts, cloggers, queens, motorcycles, trains, and elves.
The Cleveland parade is one of the few that still allows horses (positioned behind the marching entries), and candy to be tossed to the children. Santa perched atop a Cleveland Fire Department fire truck brought up the rear.
Thanks to all entries, spectators and judges for supporting the Cleveland Lions Club. Our judges were: Meghan McCann of Burlington, Leslie Rush of Cleveland and Michael H Schwartz, Lions District Governor from Gastonia. Judges are selected from the spectators as it gives the community an opportunity to be involved.
