For the second time in two months, Richard Kelley was arrested at 309 W. Council St. on breaking and entering charges.
Kelley was nabbed by Salisbury Police officers almost one month ago after authorities said he stole more than $10,000 in jewelry from his next-door neighbor while he was house-sitting for her.
On Tuesday, officers found Kelley trying to pry into the rear entrance of his former West Council Street residence to “get his personal property,” the report said.
Kelley was evicted after the burglary charges, the report said. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office did not have an eviction notification on file Wednesday morning.
The two Salisbury officers spotted the 24-year-old Kelley holding a 24-inch pry bar, the report said. The report noted that the rear entrance was damaged and had “pry marks.”
The new resident, David Mullis, had changed the locks earlier that day, police said.
Kelley, 1139 Tar Heel Trail, was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering. He was given a $1,000 bond and was in jail on Wednesday.
His first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 5.
