CHINA GROVE ó The China Grove Police Department will be hosting, for the second time, its Annual Cop On Top fundraiser with this yearís proceeds going to Rowan County Relay for Life.
Police Officer David Lambert will sit on top of Garyís Barbecue in China Grove beginning Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. and will not come down until Oct. 22 at 10 p.m.
He will collect donations and sell T-shirts on site.
ěWitness Insecurity,î a movie filmed locally and based on China Grove doctor Eric Troyerís book, will be presented Saturday night.
Lambert wants people to participate in the fundraiser, ěRowan Countyís Cure for a Cause,î and make it a success.
ěWe at China Grove Police Department would like to encourage you to contribute to a cause that touches many of us and the people we love every day,î he said.
A minimum $30 donation a sponsor name will be printed on the back of the T-shirt.
If someone has less to donate, that is appreciated as well, Lambert said.
He also hopes to get business participation in this event.
Sponsors who want their names printed on the T-shirts, must respond promptly.
Last yearís Cop on Top raised money for the Special Olympics campaign. The Police Department has also collected toys and donations for Toys for Tots for the last two years.
