Rowan Arts Council plans annual meeting

The Rowan Arts Council will have its Annual Meeting and Member/Volunteer/Sponsor Appreciation 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan Ridge Vineyards, 486 John Morgan Road, Gold Hill.
Light hors díoeuvres will be provided and wine tasting will be available. Awards for Volunteer of the Year and the Zimmerman Award, the Rowan Arts Councilís highest honor, will be issued to volunteers.
At the annual meeting, a new board of directors is elected from membership. Per the Rowan Arts Council by-laws, the board of directors consists of a minimum of eight with a maximum of 15 directors. There are 10 directors.
The past year has been challenging for all arts organizations, but the Rowan Arts Councilís many members, volunteers and sponsors have worked to keep the council an essential part of this community.
The Rowan Arts Council has been able to continue its Grassroots Grants Program, its Arts-in-Education program, and its funding of nine affiliate arts organizations, including the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony, Waterworks Visual Arts Center, Piedmont Players Theater, Carolina Artists and more.
The council has been able to create new programs such as the Second Saturday Art Crawl and the Rhythm Nights Music & Poetry Evenings.
The RAC has important goals for 2011 that they look forward to sharing. The RAC appreciates all the work and support its volunteers, members, and sponsors have provided to ensure that all citizens have access to arts programs.
