The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch that includes Rowan County.
The flood watch has been in effect since 7 a.m. this morning and is set to expire Thursday afternoon.
Heavy rainfall is expected to saturate already wet areas that may cause flooding in streams and creeks.
The NWS recommends that during a flood watch people be alert for possible flood warnings, and those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding occur.
Weather forecasts predict a 100 percent chance of rain in Rowan County today, with heavy, localized rainfall.
