The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Foundation has added two board members. The new members bring the total number of foundation board members to 22.
Joining the RCCC Foundation Board are Kate Grew, vice president of patient care services at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, and Starling Johnson, a regional sales representative and executive committee member with Johnson Concrete Co.
A native of New York, N.Y., Grew earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marquette University and a master’s degree in nursing at the State University of New York-Buffalo. She began her career at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
As a lieutenant with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, she gained experience at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. Prior to her position at CMC-NorthEast, she was vice president of patient care services with Presbyterian Healthcare.
A resident of Salisbury and an alumna of West Rowan High School, Johnson graduated cum laude from Duke University with double majors in economics and sociology. Before coming to Johnson Concrete, she worked for the global management consulting firm Accenture as a consultant to utility companies in Chicago, Tampa and Philadelphia.
The RCCC Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established to generate, receive and manage charitable contributions to the college. Since 1991, the RCCC Foundation has provided a much needed source of additional funding to the college. These funds have enabled RCCC to provide services, assist students and achieve a level of excellence which would not be possible through state and local public funding alone.
The foundation is governed by a volunteer board, composed of area business and community leaders. The board oversees all foundation projects and manages the allocation of gifts and contributions.
