Elect 2012: Early voting starts Thursday for second primary

SALISBURY — Early voting — also known as one-stop absentee voting — will be available for the July 17 Second Primary starting Thursday.
Rowan County’s lone early-voting site for the runoff election will be at the main branch of Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St., Salisbury.
Voting booths will be set up in the rear of the library at the Church Street entrance, which has a handicap ramp.
The early-voting period runs from Thursday to July 14, from 8 a.m.-5p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on the last day, Saturday, July 14.
There will be no voting on July 4.
There also will be no same-day registrations allowed during the early voting.
Here are the candidates on the ballot for the July 17 runoff:
• U.S. House of Representatives, 8th District, Republican — Richard Hudson or Scott Keadle.
• N.C. lieutenant governor, Republican — Dan Forest or Tony Gurley.
• N.C. commissioner of insurance, Republican — Richard Morgan or John Michael Causey.
• N.C. commissioner of labor, Democrat — Marlowe Foster or John C. Brooks.
• N.C. secretary of state, Republican — Kenneth Michael Gardner or Edward Charles Goodwin.
• N.C. superintendent of public instruction, Republican — John Tedesco or Richard Alexander.
• Rowan County Board of Commissioners, Democrat — Corey Jo Hill or Ralph M. Walton.
• Rowan County Board of Commissioners, Republican (vote for two) — Harry Eugene Miller, Rodney Craig Pierce, Gus Leno Andrews Jr. and Michael David Caskey Jr.
