SALISBURY — Rowan County’s manager will temporarily head up the tax collector’s office.
The Rowan Board of Commissioners named Gary Page the interim tax administrator during their meeting this morning.
Page will step in to fill the shoes of Jerry Rowland, who is retiring at the end of this month after nearly 25 years with the county.
The position was created in 2009 to merge the county tax collector and tax assessor positions. Before then, Rowland had worked as Rowan County’s tax assessor since 1988.
Page has said commissioners can decide to keep the administrator position or split it back into two. The board can appoint Rowland’s replacement for either a two-year term or a four-year term, both of which are renewable.
