Three people were sent to the hospital Sunday night with various injuries following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bostian and Daughtery roads.
Kristina Lambert, 35, of Ebenezer Road, Kannapolis, was traveling north on Bostian Road when she failed to stop at the stop sign. The crash occurred at 8:21 p.m.
Lambert’s Mitsubishi collided with a Buick driven by Arthur Crooms, 90, of Tuckaseegee Road, also of Kannapolis, said N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper C.F. Rogers.
Lambert’s car struck the passenger side where Crooms’ wife, Betty, also 90, was seated.
The Crooms were traveling east on Daughtery Road.
Lambert was charged with failure to stop for a stop sign, Rogers said.
All three were wearing seat belts and were taken to Carolina Medical Center-NorthEast.
Rogers said Betty Crooms had sever injuries while her husband and Lambert had nonlife-threatening injuries.
Stephen Garmon, owner of Garmon’s Fabrication, which sits on the corner, where the collision occurred, said there’s been lots of accidents at that intersection.
“We’ve asked for stop ahead signs,” he said.
He said the intersection disappears and drivers run right through it.
In his opinion, the majority of the wrecks haven’t occurred because of impaired driving or had anything to do with age, but have been because of drivers not stopping.
In addition to the highway patrol, Bostian Heights Fire Department responded as did Rowan County Rescue, Rowan EMS and Landis Police.
