High school softball: Hornets, Cavs square off in CCC tourney on Monday

SALISBURY — Salisbury’s softball team finished third in the Central Carolina Conference and will be at home on Monday for the opening round of the conference tournament.
Sixth-seeded North Rowan (3-10, 2-8) will provide the opposition for the Hornets (11-9, 9-3),
Salisbury finished the regular season with Thursday’s 4-2 loss to Robinson.
Katie Peeler (,522) and Ashley Yang (.519) will take lofty batting averages into the postseason.
Peeler has hit three home runs, while Yang and Taliyah McCombs have hit two each.
Katie Peeler leads the Hornets with 37 runs scored. Yang has knocked in 30.
Allie Peeler has scored 29 and knocked in 23.
