Well, we all knew they would do it — buy the mall. The “pit bull” in them has once again come out.
I believe they paid too much. They will leave lots of empty holes downtown. Oh, by the way, Commissioner Sides said we would have a tax increase to buy it.
They fight with the school board over money. But for their own pet project, they’ll spend millions. Of course, you know when it’s not out of your pocket, it’s easy to spend our money.
History has shown commissioners don’t know how to lead. The Kannapolis ballpark is a good example. Instead of being our “watch dog,” they are our nagging dog.
Commissioner Mitchell, you failed to see the lost property taxes to the county and city. Anyone will tell you, it’s cheaper to build a building to meet your needs than try to remodel a building to meet those needs.

What is all the fuss about the United States debt limit? To answer this question, visit www.usdebtclock.org and see how much every American owes. On Dec. 13, 2013, the clock showed U.S. national debt of $17 trillion with debt per taxpayer of $149,951 and total debt around $60 trillion. My teenage grandson commented, “Mimi, I didn’t know numbers could go that high.”
Treasury revenue covers the essentials: interest on debt, military defense, Social Security, Medicare, etc. Why does the government need more money? Should we worry about this? After all, in June, President Obama’s working/family vacation to Africa reportedly cost up to $100 million. Our government awarded contracts worth hundreds of millions to CGI Federal and other firms to implement the healthcare.gov website. Will the Ryan-Murray bill solve the problem or make it worse?
