• The average rainfall for Salisbury in August is 3.19 inches, with 42.8 inches as the average yearly rainfall.
• The wettest place on earth, Mawsynram in India, averages a jaw-dropping 467.35 inches. That’s nearly 39 feet.
• The heaviest volume of rainfall, per minute, was recorded at 1.23 inches in Unionville, Md., on April 7, 1956.
• The most rain recorded in 24 hours fell on Foc-Foc, La Reunion in January 1966. The mountainous island in the southern Indian Ocean was hit with 71.8 inches (5.9 feet) of rain when Tropical Cyclone Denise passed through.
