Rowan weather: Snow this afternoon

Chances are good we will have snow today, but not too much. The problems arise overnight, when wet roads may freeze, with a low of 25.

Rowan-Salisbury Schools will close two hours early today. Kannapolis City Schools are closing 3 hours early.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Today has a 90 percent chance of precipitation, with rain before noon, then rain and snow noon-2 p.m., then show after 2. The high will be 40, with northeast wind at 3-7 mph. One to 3 inches of snow accumulation is predicted.

Tonight, snow is likely before 2 a.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Patchy fog will be possible before midnight. The low will be 25, with north wind at 5-7 mph. Less than an inch more snow is expected.

Black ice could be an issue Friday morning, though it will become a sunny day with a high of 41. Winds will be north at 6-11 mph. The low will be 22, with clear skies and calm wind.

Saturday will be sunny and 53, with west southwest wind around 5 mph in the afternoon. It will be another clear and cold night, with a low of 27.

It will be a sunny Sunday, with a high of 67. Sunday night will be mostly cloudy and 38, with a 50 percent chance of rain showers after 1 a.m.

Monday will have an 80 percent chance of showers and a high of 54. The same chance of rain continues Monday night, with a low of 45.

Tuesday will have a 50 percent chance of showers and be mostly cloudy and 63. The low will be 43, with mostly cloudy skies.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and 58, with a 30 percent chance of showers.
