Music workshop at Cedar Grove AME Zion
Cedar Grove AME Zion Church, 2430 Hildebrand Road, is hosting a Black History Music Workshop this evening at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 11 a.m. featuring Pastor Vincent Tillman. A concert will be held Sunday at 3 p.m.

Tower of Power Prayer Breakfast
The men of the Tower of Power United Holy Church at 601 E. Cemetery St., will host their monthly prayer breakfast on Saturday at 8 a.m. The speaker will be Rev. FHMBC Outreach Ministry

The Wisecarvers and Tony Corner in concert
GOLD HILL — Back by popular demand, The Wisecarvers with Tony Corner will be in concert at Gold Hill First Baptist Church. This free concert is Saturday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. A love offering will be collected with proceeds going to the search for the cure of Cystic Fibrosis.

Talent show fundraiser at St. Luke’s
On Saturday at 6:30 p.m. St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold a talent show fundraiser for youth programs in the Parish Hall at 131 W. Council St.

Fairview Heights program postponed
Deacons, Trustees and Deaconess Day at Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, has been postponed to a later date to be announced.

Homecoming at Resurrection Life Church
Resurrection Life Church, 627 Newsome Road, will celebrate Homecoming 2020 on Sunday at 10 a.m. Guest speakers will be Joseph and Mennie Morrison. Joseph is a part of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Chaplain Team, traveling worldwide and ministering to those affected by manmade or natural disasters. Mennie is part of the Billy Graham Evangelist Home office located in Charlotte. Joseph and Mennie founded “Bless To Be A Blessing” Outreach Ministries in 2007, and are headquartered in York, S.C.

Heritage Sunday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist

Holy Cross honors Boy Scout Troop 525
Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1913 US Hwy 601 South, will celebrate Scout Troop 525 at the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday.
Members of Troop 525 will be recognized, along with their families. Scout Master Dwight Creason will be acknowledged for his many years of service to the troop. All former members, their families and leaders of Scout Troop 525 are invited to attend the worship service, which will be followed by refreshments.

Black History Month at Henderson Grove

Word of Life holds Black History Program
Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 East Liberty St., will host its 29th annual Black History Program at 3 p.m. on Sunday on the theme of “Black History – Give It A Voice” with special music, dance, readings and skits commemorating great African American Achievers.
Elder Carrie Hunter Bolton will be the speaker. Elder Bolton is a graduate of Livingstone College and earned her master’s in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She was the first woman to graduate from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Divinity of Virginia Union University. She is a former professor at Livingstone College and served as Chair of the Sociology Dept., a professor at Duke Divinity School and former pastor of Alston Chapel United Holy Church in Pittsboro.
Proceeds will fund the church scholarship fund. Dr. Martha Starks is host pastor.

Steward and Trustee Day at Union Chapel AME Zion
Union Chapel AME Zion Church will celebrate Steward and Trustee Day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.
Rev. Dairl Scott Jr. of Center Grove AME Zion Church of Tobaccoville, will be the guest speaker.
In addition, on March 7, Union Chapel will present “A Legendary Night of Music From The Sixties.” Members of Union Chapel and Tyro United Methodist Churches will portray different musical artists of the 1960s.

Catawba College Spring Choral Concert
On Sunday at 4 p.m. the choirs of Catawba College will present a spring concert in Catawba’s Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on the theme of “Love is in the Air,” with musical selections related to the love of God, Country and Humankind.
Catawba choirs are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, associate chair of music and director of choral/vocal studies.
The hour long concert is free and open to the public.

Crown In Glory celebrates African American history
The youth of Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, 517 E. Bank St., will present an African American history program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, assisted by some members of the adult Sunday School class. They will be presenting information about African Americans and voting, emphasizing the work of Fannie Lou Hamer, a voting rights activist during the mid-20th century civil rights movement. Theonia Richardson is the program director. Phyllis Partee is director of music and Rev. Donald E. Anthony is vacancy pastor.

23rd annual Crossover Kannapolis service
KANNAPOLIS — Five area choirs are participating in the 23rd annual Crossover Kannapolis service on Sunday at 6 p.m. in honor of February being Race Relations Month.
The service will consist of special music by each of the five choirs, Bible readings and a testimony from one of the participants. A love offering will be taken, which will go to Teen Challenge of Kannapolis.
Crossover Kannapolis will be held at Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter St., Kannapolis. Rev. Willie Rash is the pastor.
The other participating churches are Bethel AME Zion, Rev. Dr. Charles Wilson, pastor; He’s Alive Church, Rev. Mark Carnes, pastor; Marable Memorial AME Zion, Rev. Dr. William McKenith, pastor; and Teen Challenge, Mr. Sal Dibianco, director.

Pancake supper at Christ Episcopal
CLEVELAND — Christ Church, 3430 Old US Hwy 70, will hold its annual Pancake Supper in the Parish House from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25. A free-will donation will be accepted.
Coffee and doughnuts will be served Sunday at 9:15 a.m. followed by Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. and Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m.

‘Drive Thru Ashes’ at Grace UMC
On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, Grace United Methodist Church, 846 Faith Road, will offer “Drive Thru Ashes” from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a time of reflection and repentance. Drive Thru Ashes allows participation for people who have no church home, don’t have time to attend a traditional service, or who are mobility challenged.
Grace and Bethel UMChurches invites members, visitors and friends to come to the church parking lot, stay in your car, and have ashes imposed on your forehead.
A traditional Ash Wednesday Service will be held at Bethel UMC, 2380 Long Ferry Road, at 6:30 p.m.
