Education: Woodleaf Elementary School releases its All-A Honor Roll

Text book author
Troy Schiedenhelm, a psychology faculty member at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, has co-authored a psychology textbook that will be used by college students as soon as the upcoming fall semester.
Schiedenhelm has co-authored “Discovering Psychology,” with R. H. Ettinger of Eastern Oregon University. The book, published by Horizon Textbook Publishing of Redding, Calif., is intended for general psychology classes.
In addition to teaching at RCCC, Schiedenhelm chartered and serves as the adviser of the college’s chapter of Psi Beta, the National Honor Society in psychology. He is also working on an abnormal psychology textbook.
Schiedenhelm earned a bachelor’s degree at Point Park College and a master’s degree at West Chester University. He holds a doctoral degree from Argosy University. He has taught at RCCC since 2003.
Nomination forms available
Smart Start Rowan will host the ninth annual Child Care Recognition Event on Friday, May 29, at First Presbyterian Church.
During this event, Smart Start Rowan recognizes and congratulates child care professionals who participate in early education courses, have completed a degree in early childhood, and/or who have increased their star license in the past year.
The Child Care Center Director of the Year, Child Care Center Teacher of the Year, Family Child Care Professional of the Year and Support Staff Person of the Year will be awarded.
Selected individuals will receive a framed certificate, as well as a check for $250. Sponsors for this year’s awards are F&M Bank, First Bank and Walser Technology Group Inc.
Those nominated are selected based on Early Childhood Professionals Award Nomination Forms that are completed by parents, co-workers and/or administrative staff.
Individuals seeking to nominate an early childhood professional may print out or complete the nomination form on-line at www.rowan-smartstart.org. Nomination forms are also available at the Smart Start Rowan office at 1839 W. Jake Alexander Blvd. Nomination forms should be completed and returned to the Smart Start Rowan office by Friday, May 8.
