Blotter: Salisbury man charged with weapons offenses after break-in at Kannapolis home

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged this week with weapons offenses after Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting into a Kannapolis home.

Cornelius Lamar Butler, 22, of the 800 block of Park Avenue, was charged on Monday with felony discharging a weapon into an occupied property, felony breaking and entering, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delay an officer, felony possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to arrest warrants, Butler did discharge a .380 caliber pistol into an occupied property, in the 600 block of West 9th Street, while the homeowner was in the home. The warrant said Butler pointed the gun at the occupant.

He also gave a false name to authorities and a false date of birth to the arresting officer.

The warrant said Butler is a convicted felon who was convicted in October 2015 in Cabarrus County of felony breaking and entering into a building.

He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $150,500 secured bond.

In other arrest warrants:

• Sabrina Beth Sutton, 34, of the 100 block of Crescent Heights Drive, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor resist, obstruct, delay an officer. An arrest warrant said Sutton had a syringe and spoons. She also ran into a bathroom at locked the door while a Rowan Sheriff’s deputy was serving an order for arrest on Brandon Brent Sullivan.

• William Talbert Boger, 40, of the 100 block of McKnight Road, of Advance, was charged on Tuesday with misdemeanor aid and abet prostitution. According to the warrant, Boger stood by and waited for his female companion to perform sexual acts on other men in exchange for money. The woman, Christopher Mae (May) Riddle, 41, of the 100 block of Coble Lane, Mocksville, was charged with misdemeanor prostitution. The warrant said she performed a sex act for sexual gratification and for money.

• Scott Freeman Suggs, 42, of the 1900 block of Troutman Hill Road, Kannapolis, was charged on Monday with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, felony larceny and safecracking.

The warrant said three gold charms were taken between Dec. 18 and Dec. 23 from a Walton Road home in Salisbury along with nine rings. He remains in the Rowan County jail under a $12,500 secured bond.
