Police investigating battery theft at Salvation Army

SALISBURY — Someone damaged a Salvation Army truck and stole its battery while it was parked outside the resale store.

The theft was reported Wednesday. Police said someone damaged the mechanism that holds the battery in the 2004 white Chevrolet box truck.

In other Salisbury Police Department reports:

• A man reported credit card fraud Tuesday in the 500 block of Elm Street.

• A woman reported an assault Tuesday in the 200 block of Faith Road.

• Meloney Loutisha Everhart, 58, was charged Tuesday with misdemeanor animal cruelty in the 200 block of West Kerr Street.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• A man reported Monday that someone stole items from an outbuilding in the 3200 block of Long Ferry Road.

• A woman reported Monday that someone stole items from her vehicle, which was broken down on Interstate 85.
