Some local handicapped seniors, and younger folks, too, “fall between the cracks” when it comes to non-emergency medical transportation.

If you are not on Medicaid, not within the city limits, not on a bus route and more, you’re on your own.

Repeated phone calls to the city of Salisbury and Rowan County proved fruitless. There are some “for hire” transport companies, but they charge exorbitant rates.

Will someone come to the aid of wheelchair-bound seniors who need to get to appointments?
