Annual Fourth of July Chorus
5 p.m. June 30

FAITH — All veterans will be recognized during the concert of patriotic music on Sunday at Faith Baptist Church.
The Fourth of July Chorus consists of 54 choir members from 19 area churches.
The church will be completely decked out in red, white and blue. Those attending are encouraged to wear patriotic colors, too.
Directed by Jason Harwood; accompanied by Susan Trivette; narrated by Dr. Karl Hales; organized by Daisy Bost.
Prior to the concert, Rowan Big Band All-Stars, under the direction of Ron Turbyfill, will entertain beginning at 3:45 p.m.
Following the concert, food and amusement rides will be available at Faith Legion.

The Intimidators celebrate Independence Day with fireworks

KANNAPOLIS — The Intimidators will have fireworks at their home games on back-to-back nights on July 2 and 3 at 7 p.m.
This is in their last year at Intimidators Stadium before moving into their new facilities next season.

Colonial Militia Training at Fort Dobbs
Saturday • 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

STATESVILLE — Most able-bodied men were required by North Carolina law to serve in the colony’s militia in the 1750s. They gathered several times a year for military training and could be called away at any time, leaving homes and businesses to the defend the colony.
Fort Dobbs State Historic Site will feature living history interpreters recreating an 18th century militia muster June 29. The presentation features scheduled musket firing demonstrations, period cooking and military camp life. See progress on the reconstructed fort, which will open this fall.
