St. Luke Men’s Day weekend
St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating Men’s Day Weekend with a fellowship breakfast Saturday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship is at 11 a.m. with dinner served immediately after.
Sunday at 3 p.m. Gospel Explosion and local groups will be singing.

Moore’s Chapel pastor appreciation
CLEVELAND — Appreciation musical and services for Rev. Eddie L. and First Lady Barbara E. Fortson of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 5890 South River Church Road, begin Saturday at 5 p.m. The musical program features local groups.
Sunday, 11 a.m. worship features Brother Christopher Sherrill;
Sunday’s 3 p.m. guest speaker is Rev. Harold Jordan of Third Creek AME Zion Church of Cleveland.
Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Free Medicare/Medicaid seminar
WOODLEAF — Rev. Dr. Ervin Baker of Friendship Baptist Church of Cooleemee and Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. of Erwin Temple CME Church, will co-sponsor a free seminar on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Erwin Temple CME Church, 155 Erwin Temple Church Road.
Those who are recipients of Medicare or Medicaid or about to become eligible, can receive information on benefits they are eligible for but may not be aware of, such as free dental care, free vision care, free rides to doctors, healthy diets, protection against scams, information on enrollment and healthy living.

Ardis Chapel celebrates its Pastor Appreciation Day for Rev. Martha Greene, on Saturday at 5 p.m. The service will be followed by dinner. Rev. Patricia A. Brown of Whosoever Will Let Them Come will be the guest preacher.

Providence AME Zion pastor appreciation
Providence AME Zion Church, 2415 Providence Church Road, celebrates Pastor’s Appreciation Day for Rev. Zacharias E. Allen Sr., on Sunday at 11 a.m. with guest preacher Rev. Clara H. Tandy, associate minister.
Lunch will be served following the service.

Erwin Temple pastor appreciation
WOODLEAF — The appreciation celebration will be held during the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Erwin Temple CME Church, 155 Erwin Temple Church Road. The pastor, Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr., has served for 13 years.
Guest speaker will be Rev. Morris Van Artis, assistant pastor at Union Grove Missionary Baptist of Freemont. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Big day at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
Children and Youth Day, Graduate Recognition, and Vacation Bible School Dedication will be held on Sunday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave.
Recent graduates Tamia Brown, School of Mathematics and Science, and Cameron Sifford, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, will be the speakers for the 11 a.m. service. Preschool, high school and college graduates as well as individuals receiving advance degrees will be recognized.

The Women of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boyden Quarters will observe Women’s Day on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Guest speaker will be Rev. Alice Houston Perry of the Vineyard Worship Center. The 2019 theme is “Women with Power, Purpose and Praise.” If possible we’re asking all ladies to wear the color purple.

Rhema Praise and Worship choir anniversary
The Rhema Praise and Worship Choir of Rhema Praise and Worship Church, 117 Long Ferry Road, will celebrate its eighth Choir Anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Guest choirs and groups are The Williams Family of Rhema; the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir of Macedonia Baptist Church, Concord; the Community United for Christ Choir of Unity of Kannapolis and Macedonia Church/Concord; and the Williamsons of Concord.
Host pastor is Rev. Alonza Williams Sr.

New Hope Men’s Day
New Hope AME Zion Church will hold its annual Men’s Day Observance on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Guest speaker is Rev. Robert N. Kelley of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church of Salisbury.
Rev. Kelley holds a master of divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary.
Phyllis Partee will accompany the choir. Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hall is host pastor.

Scholarships at New Bethel Baptist
MOCKSVILLE — On June 1, New Bethel Baptist Church 3727 US Hwy 601S, awarded Memorial scholarships to 11 students. Speaker for the program was Dr. Carolyn Anderson, professor at Winston-Salem State University.
Recipients from Davie County High School: Taylor Bare, Armissa Bowles, Sierra Foster, Will Harper, Sydney Harris, Robert Hendricks, Katherine Hines, Sydney Nelson, Georgia Visser;
Mooresville High School: Jessica Mayfield; Trey Chunn, rising sophomore at NC A&T.
Host pastor is Rev. John R. Bankhead Jr.

Confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran
ROCKWELL — This Pentecost Sunday five students will accept the Rite of Confirmation administered by catechism teachers Judy Harwood and Rev. Bruce Sheeks.
The students are: Ethan Humes, son of Macheal and Brian Humes; Callie and Wyatt Trexler, children of Lisa and Darrin Trexler; Kayla Trexler, daughter of Sheri and Tracy Trexler and Caroline York, daughter of Pam York and Chris York. Carolyn Trexler will present Chrismons handcrafted for them by the Immanuel Chrismon Crusaders.
The congregation will also receive new adult members Jim Cornelius, Dwayne Robertson (Dr. Rob), Nathan Wyatt and Pam York. Following the service, the Irene Beaver Circle will host a reception.
