Price of Freedom launches concert series
6 p.m. April 27
CHINA GROVE — The Price of Freedom Museum, 2420 Weaver Road, introduces the Old School Gospel Series, a program of Gospel Music Concerts, held in the former Patterson School. Great care was taken during the renovation of the school auditorium, completed in December, to retain the acoustic qualities of the room.
The first concert in the series is Saturday, featuring the Cockman Family from Sherrills Ford. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
Future segments of the series includes: The Golden Valley Crusaders on Aug.17 and Gospel Voices on Oct. 19.

The Freddy Cole Quartet at The Davis

CONCORD — The Freddy Cole Quartet will perform at the Davis Theater on Tuesday.Tickets are $35.
Four-time Grammy nominee Freddy Cole sings and plays piano, guitar and upright bass – just like his older brother Nat “King” Cole did. Yet his voice is raspier, smokier, perhaps even jazzier, making him a force in today’s jazz world.

Improv Charlotte
8 p.m. April 27
CHARLOTTE — Charlotte’s improv comedy troupe performs at Free Range Brewing, 2320 N. Davidson St. Performances are suitable for any age; and all profits are given to local charities.
From April- June proceeds benefit Classroom Central. We will also be collecting school supply donations at our shows.
Subsequent shows for 2019 are May 10, June 14, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov.8 and Dec. 13.
