Bare 25th Anniversary

Paul Douglas ěDougî Bare and Julie Marie Hoover Bare of Rockwell celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Oct. 28, 2009, at a special dinner with their children. The Bares were married Oct. 28, 1984, at First United Methodist Church in China Grove.
Doug is a Funeral Director and the administrative coordinator with Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell, and Julie is a Deputy Register of Deeds with the Rowan County Register of Deeds office in Salisbury. They have two sons, Joshua Douglas ěJoshî Bare and Paul ěNickî Bare of the home.
Doug and Julie also plan to continue their celebration with a trip to the mountains at a later date.

Beck 50th Anniversary
Donald and Annie Lee Beck of Salisbury, formerly of Mount Airy, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 26, 2009, with a reception at their home. Hosting the occasion were their children, Chris and wife Carla, Mitchell and wife Caroline, Karen Julian and husband Michael; and their grandchildren, triplets Matthew, Joshua and Michael and Jacob Beck, and Sarah and Hannah Julian.
The Becks were married Sept. 26, 1959, in Durham by the Rev. C.R. Tedder. Donald retired from Pike Electric after 42-1/2 years of service. He is the son of the late Everett and Clemmie Kirkman Beck of Mount Airy. Annie Lee is the daughter of the late Paul and Irene Snow McMillian of Mount Airy.
Mrs. Beckís wedding dress and photographs from their wedding were on display at the celebration.
Out-of-town guests attending were Cassa Smith of Sparta, Danielle Pack of Elkin, Mr. and Mrs. David Lee and daughter of Mount Pleasant and 60 family members and friends.

Gardner – Burns

MOUNT ULLA ó Lisa Katheryn Gardner and Dewey Baker Burns were united in marriage Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at St.Lukeís Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Clarence Sifford officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony assisted by the Rev. Mary Louise Sitton. A reception followed at Millbridge Ruritan Building.
The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. Andy Gardner. Attending as her maid of honor was her cousin, Miss Lora E. Gardner of Raleigh. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Emily C. Weddington of China Grove, Mrs. Megan L. Ingle of Portland, Ore., and cousins of the bride Mrs. Patty M. Linker of Salisbury and Miss Carrie M. Holt and Miss Amber O. Kennerly, both of Mount Ulla.
Jason Combs of Manchester, Ky., stood as best man. Serving as groomsmen were brother of the bride Mr. Adam Gardner of Woodleaf, Mr. Scott Mow?bray, Mr. Adam Mowbray and Mr. Eric Mowbray, all of Salisbury. Also honored as a groomsman was the late brother of the bride, Mr. Andrew Gardner.
Miss Payton Holt of Mount Ulla, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. Mr. Gene Hatfield served as Lector. Mrs. Michelle Hatfield was guest registrar, and Miss Chelsea and Miss Mallorie Hatfield were program attendants.
The bride is the daughter of Andy and Debbie Gardner of Woodleaf and the granddaughter of the late Paul and Ann Karriker of Mount Ulla and Ms. Darlene Gardner and the late Dr. Ralph A. Gardner of Woodleaf. A 2000 graduate of ?West Rowan High School, Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture Science from North Carolina State University in 2004 and her teaching certificate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2008. She is employed by Rowan-Salisbury School System.
The groom is the son of Ms. Nancy and the late Marvin Burns of Brutus, Ky., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Baker of Longs Creek, Ky., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Steve Burns of Brutus, Ky. A 1996 graduate of Clay County High School, Dewey graduated with top honors from Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1998.
Following a wedding trip to Kure Beach, the couple are making their home in Gold Hill.

Garris Birth

Colby Brian Garris was born Sept. 11, 2009, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz. The son of Brian and Kristen Garris of Woodleaf, Colby has one brother, Christian Ellenburg, 9.
His grandparents are Diane Brandt, Timmy and Patricia Garris and the late Fredrick Ellenburg. His great-grandparents are Estelle and the late Larry Guinn, Jon and the late Inez Garris, Peggy and Junior Oxendine and Diana Ellenburg.

McKinney Twins Birthday

P.H. and P.D. McKinney, born Oct. 29, 1929, celebrated their 80th birthday Oct. 18, 2009, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Ketchie of Gold Hill. They are the youngest of three sets of twins born to the late Junius Thomas and Xenia Selby McKinney of Engelhard.The brothers and their wives were taken in a surprise limousine ride to the “Pig Pickin” and chicken dinner which was hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Approximately 130 family and friends attended. Out-of-town guests included Earl and Diane Pugh of Engelhard, Archie†and Janice Parker and Jerry†and Vickie Houser of Charlotte. Brothers†and sisters include twins Earl McKinney and Eunice M. Dwiggins; twin sisters Imogene M. Carawan and Irene M. Hinson; a sister,†Willie M. Testa of New York; and the late Mamie Ruth Mann, Hyatt McKinney, V.A. McKinney, Lois M. Fulp and Noah McKinney. In-laws include Ruth McKinney, Ray Dwiggins, Harvey (Bub) Hinson, Lurline McKinney, Frances McKinney and the late Poe Carawan, Sammy Testa, Richard Mann, Elmer Fulp and Betty McKinney.
Entertainment included a surprise†visit from “Barbara Shanty,î accompanied by the square dance favorite, “The Virginia Reel.” They were†also honored to have Chris Lane from The Chris Lane Band†of Kernersville to† play his guitar and sing a song† that was written especially for the twins in honor of their birthday. A video was also viewed that had special birthday wishes from friends unable to attend including Joyce and Tommy Jones, Thad Jr. and Elsie Selby, Nancy Jane and Don Wiseman and Murray and Kathy Balance, all from Hyde County.
P.H. and LaVerne Shaw McKinney have three children, Chris McKinney, Barry and Annette McKinney and Jancy M. and Bobby Ketchie; and four grandchildren.
P.D. and Faye Albright McKinney also have three children, David and Sherry McKinney, Linda M. and Gordon Miller and Lisa M. and David Dixon; nine grandchildren; and† six† great-grandchildren.

Reddick 25th Anniversary

Mason Wayne Reddick and Doretha Wilson Reddick of Richmond, Va., celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Oct. 24, 2009, with friends and family at a renewal of their wedding vows at Rowan Business Alliance in Salisbury, N.C., with Overseer Pricilla Overstreet, pastor of Holy Tabernacle Church, officiating. The occasion was also a celebration of Dorethaís 50th birthday. The couple then went on to Myrtle Beach for Honeymoon II.
The Reddicks were married Oct. 27, 1984, at the Rowan County Courthouse. Mason is employed by Philip Morris in Richmond, and Doretha was formerly employed by Dillardís Distribution Center.
The Reddicks have four children, Michelle Mitchell, Toya Mitchell, Josh Reddick and Marcus D. Reddick. They also have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
