Residents can’t afford to live in Landis anymore. The power bills are outrageous. What used to be a great town is no longer. It is very sad.

Editorial: Landis board should take cue from investigators

Maybe it’s time for the state to revoke the town’s charter and unincorperate it. Turn the power distribution system over to Duke Energy, let Kannapolis supply water and sewer and disband the police department. Go back to a volunteer fire department. Everyone’s taxes and utilities would drop tremendously.

Unfortunately, Salisbury has a track record of not supporting such entities.

About three years ago, there were two organizations that were intersted in creating an innovation or incubator center. Both were willing to pay rent and develop the centers. One was going to be downtown. All that was needed was a little bit of updating to the building. That was turned down. We also had people move here from the West Coast. They moved away when there was no interest in helping them develop opportunities.

This would give the Democrats control of the next round of redistricting.
