JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Catawba’s Elizabeth Webb had a career game, but so did Carson-Newman’s Haris Price.

Webb, Catawba’s only senior, made four 3-pointers and scored 19 points in a 90-77 loss to the Eagles at Holt Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Price, a senior guard who is a 1,000-point scorer, poured in a career-high 39.

Carson-Newman (11-3, 4-2) won its fifth straight game and also bumped its winning streak against the Indians to five in a row.

Carson-Newman didn’t miss often, shooting a season-best 55 percent against a Catawba team that has stifled a lot of opponents with defense.

 Catawba led 7-2 at the outset, but Price, who shot 16-for-20 from the floor, and her teammates were sizzling by the end of the first quarter and took a 26-23 lead.

  It was 29-all when Catawba (7-5, 2-3) experienced a four-minute scoring drought in the second quarter. Carson-Newman took charge during that stretch and took a 46-38 lead to the break.

Catawba trailed 54-49 in the middle of the third quarter, but Carson-Newman enjoyed an 11-2 run run for a 14-point lead and had control the rest of the way.

Kayla Marosites had her fifth straight double-double for the Eagles with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Addison Byrd scored 16.

Talia Barnes scored 14 for Catawba. Former A.L. Brown star Shemya Stanback had 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting.

Catawba was 9-for-31 on 3-pointers and only got to the foul line 12 times.
