CHINA GROVE — Rowan County authorities say a NASCAR pit crew coach reported the theft of a number of electronic devices that were left in his truck.

The man is a crew coach for Team Penske, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

Officials said someone broke into the vehicle overnight in the 200 block of Woodland Drive and took a book bag with two Microsoft Surface Pro 4 devices; a NASCAR access card; a PlayStation 2; an iPod; Apple wireless earbuds; and the chargers for Microsoft laptop and tablet devices.

The theft occurred between 1 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

Nicholas “Trent” Cherry said he usually put the bag in the truck the night before heading to work. The truck was unlocked, officials said.
