Voter registration deadline is today

SALISBURY — Mail-in and drop-off voter registration forms must be postmarked or turned in at the Rowan County Board of Elections Office by 5 p.m. today.

The office is at 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd. W., Suite D-10.

Forms may be downloaded from the Board of Elections website at https://www.rowancountync.gov/191/Elections. They are also available at local libraries, high schools and other social services offices such as the Division of Motor Vehicles, Employment Security Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation and more.

Forms must include a full name, residential address, birthdate, and a valid identification number such as a driver’s license number, DMV-issued identification card number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number. They must also be signed.

If no identification number is provided, applications must include a copy of a current and valid photo ID or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that bears the voter’s name and address.

Rowan County Elections Director Nancy Evans said identification may be required for voters who provide no identification with their registration applications.

Same-day, in-person registration will be available during early voting, held Oct. 17 to Nov. 3 at three sites: the Board of Elections Office, Rockwell American Legion building and South Branch of Rowan Public Library in China Grove.

The sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.
