Mary Kay Lester Forbes will sign copies of her petite inspirational book, “Memories of My Best Friend, ‘Susie Belle’ ” during the Saturday Salon at Literary Bookpost on Saturday, May 23, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Forbes has lived in Salisbury since retiring in 2006 after spending 31 years in education, during which time she wrote plays and poetry.
“Memories of My Best Friend, ‘Susie Bell’ ” is the story of Forbes growing up with her best friend, but is also a universal story of friendship. The message Forbes conveys is the value of friendship and the importance of remaining connected with special friends throughout life.
The small book is a gift to give good friends one sees regularly or periodically; it is also ideal to give to former friends with whom one would like to reconnect. The book has a dedication page, hearts at the bottom of each illustrated page for the reader to check if they shared that activity with their friend, and memory pages for the giver and receiver to write memories they have of their special friendship.
Literary Bookpost is located at 119 S. Main St. in downtown Salisbury. For additional information about this event, or other upcoming events, call 704-630-9788, or visit www.literarybookpost.com.
