GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) ó The North Carolina High School
Athletic Association is withdrawing the state boys basketball
championship from a Greensboro school which says it used ineligible
players.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported Thursday
that officials at Northern Guilford High School said the school used
two players who should not have attended the school.

Association executive director Rick Strunk says school officials reported the problem to the league.

School
Superintendent Maurice Green told coach Stan Kowalewski his contract
won’t be renewed. Kowalewski criticized the school’s investigation of
the situation.

Green says officials are reviewing other teams.

School
officials say five Northern students playing on four teams were
ineligible, based on the high school association’s residency rules.
